Molly Shapiro
Molly has more than 15 years of writing and editing experience in public relations, marketing, journalism and fiction. Currently, she provides strategic communications support to nonprofits such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, working on initiatives that promote health care coverage for the uninsured, better high schools for the nation’s youth, and increased access to technology in public libraries.
Molly’s marketing experience includes working in Microsoft’s MSN division, where she wrote and produced a monthly newsletter that was sent to over 30 million Hotmail customers. As the writer/editor for iCat/Intel Corporation, she wrote, produced and launched the company’s new Web site. As a journalist, Molly has written for ABCNews.com, Variety magazine and Dow Jones Business Information Services, and served as associate editor of American Bookseller Magazine.
Molly has written a number of commissioned screenplays, including “The Bob Marley Story,” and is the author of a book of short stories entitled “Eternal City,” which won the Willa Cather Fiction Prize. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Semiotics from Brown University and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Columbia University. She has taught creative writing at the University of Washington, as well as English to military personnel in Rome. |
